Blackboard’s New Page content-building tools allow you to organize items more easily.  There are three options from the Build Content Menu: 1) Content Folder, for creating folders within a content area for related resources, 2) Blank Page, for creating extended web page postings, and 3) Module Page, which users can customize with prebuilt tools for personal use. 


To Create a Content Folder

  1. Hover your mouse over the Build Content button then select Content Folder.
  2. Enter the Name, and any Text you would use to describe the contents of the folder
  3. Configure folder options, such as: making the folder visible to students, scheduling it to be visible for a prearranged time, or tracking student views of the folder.   These three functions are sometimes called Standard Options.  Click Submit to finish.
  4. The folder now appears with a green confirmation bar.  Test the folder by clicking on it.  Then use the standard 4 tool bar across the top to continue course-building.

To Create a Blank Page

  1. Hover your mouse over  Build Content button then select Blank Page. You can also create blank pages on the navigation menu by clicking the + icon just above the course menu.
  2. Enter the Content of the blank web page.  This can include rich formatting, hyperlinks, and media files. 
  3. Add any file attachments to the page, either by clicking Browse My Computer and selecting the file to upload, or by clicking Browse Content Collection and selecting a file you have already uploaded in the content area.
  4. Configure the standard options, i.e. making the page visible to students, scheduling it to be visible, or tracking student views of the page.
  5. A link to this page will appear; test it to make sure the page appears as you have formatted it.

To Create a Module Page

  1. Hover your mouse over  Build Content button then select Module Page.
  2. Provide a Name and a Description for this page. 
  3. If you would like students to be able to customize the modules that they see on this page, tick the box nex to Permit Users to Persnoalize the Page.
  4. Configure the standard options, i.e. making the page visible to students, scheduling it to be visible, or tracking student views of the page.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. A link to the Modue Page will appear in the content area, click this link.
  7. On the Module Page click the Add Course Module button. 
  8. Add any relevent modules.
  9. Click the OK butto to finish.
