Searching for Courses as a Guest

Some instructors have enabled guest access so that members of the UofT Community and external visitors can view material in their course. Visiting Instructors, special guests, peers and colleagues or other users (with UTORids) that are not directly participating in the course may be given the role of Guest by the Instructor. Click here for more information on Blackboard course roles. Courses that have been made available to Guests are listed in the Browsing Courses as a Guest module. 

  1. Login to the Portal
  2. Click Browse Course Catalogue in the Browsing Courses as a Guest module on your My Page.

    Searching for a Course by Course ID
     
  3. Select ID from the drop down menu. Enter the course ID for the course you are looking for (e.g., ECO100) and click the Go button. Courses made available to guests will appear as a hyperlink. Click on the link to access and browse the course.

    Searching for a Course by Instructor
     
  4. Select Instructor and Equal to from the Search Catalog Course drop down menus.  Enter the instructor’s last name and click the Go button. Courses made available to guests will appear as a hyperlink.  Click on the link to access the course. Click on the link to access and browse the course.


NOTE: Not all course documents and Content Areas will be made available to Guests. Instructors set the permissions and control whether or not Guests have access to the Course.
