Lower Connection Speed to Help With Connection Issues

If your connection speed slows for any reason, the server may be sending you more information than your connection can process.  If too much information builds up your computer may reset the connection, which will disconnect you from the Collaborate session.  See the instructions on the page listed below on how to lower your connection speed.

Launching Collaborate sessions in Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10

In Windows 8 there are two versions of Internet Explorer, IE 10 Metro and IE 10 Desktop.  Windows 8 presents IE Metro as the initial web browser; Metro does not support Java so a few additional steps are required to launch a Collaborate session.  IE 10 Desktop does support Java, so no additional steps should be required when using it.

Problems Connecting at UofT Libraries

If you attempt to join a Collaborate session on a University of Toronto library computer you will not be able to download the launcher as all library computers will not allow the download of executable files. While most documentation will highlight the use of the Blackboard Collaborate launcher (and it is suggested for your personal computer) it is still possible to join without the launcher download.
